Nov 3: LEAVE THE UNITED STATES FOR CASABLANCA: Enjoy your overnight flight to Casablanca
Nov 4: CASABLANCA: Welcome to Casablanca where we will clear customs. We’ll have a coffee break at “Rick’s Cafe” and see the Hassan II Mosque. Followed by our hotel check in
Nov 5: CASABLANCA – MEKNES – FEZ: We depart Casablanca and head to Meknes, the Ismalian capital famous for it’s 40KM long walls. Visit to Bab El Mansour, the Royal Stables and the Jewish Quarter. Continuing on to the holy city of Moulay Idress, via the tuins of the Roman City of Volubilis and then into Fez. Check into the hotel
Nov 6: FEZ: The whole day is devoted to Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco. Visit the medieval Medina and it’s Attarine and Bou Inania Medersas, the Nejjarine fountain and Karaouine mosque. In the afternoon we will visit New Fez, built in 1276 C.E., (old Fez was built in 780 C.E.) Night at the hotel
Nov 7: FEZ: This morning we will have a walk to the explore the old medina and visit the leather dying pots. Following this morning walking tour you will have lunch in the Medina Bis Restaurant and then are free to explore this fascinating ancient city. Night at the hotel
Nov 8: FEZ – BENI MELLAL: After breakfast we depart to Beni Mellal, passing through the Berber village of Immouzer du Kandar and Ifrane. We will break up the drive to Marrakech by spending the afternoon and evening in Beni Mellal. Visiting the Ouzoud waterfalls and taking the raft ride to where the walls drop and visit the Ain Asserdoun (eye of the donkey). Night at the hotel.
Nov 9: BENI MELLAL – MARRAKESH: The entire day will be devoted to the visit of Marrakesh, the second oldest Imperial city, known as the Pearl of the South. The city was founded by the Almoravids at the end of the 11th century. The historical sightseeing includes the Menara Gardens, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahai Palace and the Koutoubia Minaret. We will visit the souks and handicraft quarters, displaying a variety of items and the famous place Jemaa El Fnaa with it’s nonstop entertainment, including snake charmers. Night at the hotel.
Nov 10: MARRAKESH: After breakfast we will visit Dar El Bacha Palace Museum and stop at Cafe Bacha Coffee. The remainder of the day is your to explore. Have a aperitif at Cafe Arabe, wander the gardens at Les Jardins, visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa built almost 500 years ago. See the Musee di la Musique and become familiar with traditional Moroccan music, take a Hammam, take a cooking class, visit a carpet factory, the day is yours to enjoy. Night at the hotel.
Nov 11: MARRAKESH – CAIRO: We will depart Marrakesh early for Casablanca where we will take our flight to Cairo. We will be met upon arrival and walked through the arrival formalities. Egyptian Visa is $25 USD purchased there. We will transfer to the JAZ Pyramid hotel for check in and dinner.
Nov 12: CAIRO: Today we will visit the New Grand Egyptian Museum and pyramids. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Nov 13: CAIRO: We will visit the old Cairo Museum in Tahrir Square, Shop at the Khan El Khalil Bazaar, finding treasures to bring home. Dinner and overnight at hotel
Nov 14: ASWAN: We will head to Cairo Airport for our flight to Aswan. In Aswan we will visit the High Dam & Philae Temple. Overnight at hotel.
Nov 15: KOM OMBO – EDFU – LUXOR: After breakfast we will drive to Luxor visiting Kom Ombo and Edfu Temples along the way. Upon our arrival into Luxor we will continue to the Luxor Temple, which is better viewed at sunset and in the evening. Overnight at hotel.
Nov 16: LUXOR: Today we visit the West Bank and see the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut’s Temple before crossing the Nile and visiting the magnificent Karnak Temple. Overnight at hotel.
Nov 17: DENDERAH: We will take a short drive to beautiful Denderah Temple, dedicated to Hathor, one of the rare 2 story temples. If we are lucky we may even get the chance to venture beneath the temple into the store rooms. Which are adorned with beautiful carvings still bearing the paint from when they were built. This temple still is vividly painted with scenes from the sky and stars. We will drive back to Luxor for our flight to Cairo. Overnight at Cairo Hotel
Nov 18: ALEXANDRIA: After breakfast we will depart on the desert road to Alexandria and visit the following places: the Catacomb of Kom El Shoghafa, the Citadel of Qaitbay – The Roman Amphitheater and the famed Library of Alexandria. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Those not continuing on to Siwa will return to Cairo for the night. Those continuing on to Siwa will do so via the desert road.
Nov 19: RETURN TO THE UNITED STATES: Those not traveling to Siwa will return to the United States.
OPTIONAL ADD ON TO SIWA Nov 19: SIWA: Alexander the Great traveled to visit the Oracle of Amun as will we. Bring your swim suits, we will then take a dip into the crystal blue fresh waters of the oasis. After our refreshing swim we continue to the Shali Fortress, Cleopatra’s Spring and watch the sun set. Dinner is a t a local restaurant and back to the hotel for an overnight.
Nov 20: SIWA: Today we explore the Great Sand Sea and in the afternoon swim in the salt pools. At 3pm we will transfer by jeep 4X4 to discover the sand safari and sunset over the dunes. Back to Siwa for a Bedouin dinner and our hotel for the night.
Nov 21: SIWA/CAIRO: We depart Siwa for Cairo via the desert road. Check into our hotel and relax.
Nov 22: RETURN TO THE UNITED STATES: Sadly our Morocco/Egypt adventure vacation is over and we head back to the airport for our flight home.
